We have interviewed <strong>Emma<\/strong>\nfrom Muck Rack to let us know about this PR software and what it can do for\nyour business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Little Background History of Muck Rack<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/muckrack.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ebool.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/mrlogo-1024x244.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-225\" width=\"363\" height=\"86\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The start of Muck Rack\nas a company has many things to do with Twitter in its early stage. Back when\nit was still called twttr.com, the CEO of Muck Rack (Greg Galant) was one of\nthe few people who used this social media platform for the first time. Back\nthen, Twitter was still not a thing, but the CEO of Muck Rack saw something big\nhappening on this new social media platform. He found out that Twitter can be a\nstrong social media platform that has the power to make any news viral in a\nshort period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On top of that, the\nfirst few people (the pioneers) who used this platform for the first time were\nmostly journalists that were trying to get the news about various things spread\nover the internet. Back then, Twitter was the platform where journalists from various\nplaces joined together to share various news that they have. Greg Galant paid\nattention to this fact, and it sparked an idea in his mind to create Muck Rack,\nthe company that provides PR software for businesses to help them find the\nright journalists for their public relation jobs. Emma explained the history of\nMuck Rack as a company in this way,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOur co-founders were early pioneers on Twitter. Our CEO, Greg Galant, signed up for Twitter back before Twitter could afford the vowels when it was just \u201ctwttr.com.\u201d and ended up with @Gregory<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Greg saw that there was great stuff\nhappening on Twitter, but it was hard to know what was worth paying attention\nto. That led to the idea for the Shorty Awards, the first award show that let\nanyone vote with a tweet and it went viral within 24 hours becoming the top\ntrending term on Twitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What really struck Greg was that\njournalists were on social before anyone else &#8211; using it to figure out who to\nwrite about, find sources and to promote their stories. And yet, there was no\nway to find all the journalists on social. We launched Muck Rack originally in\n2009 as a site where you could see all the journalists in one place and\ncategorize by what publication they wrote for. It became extremely popular with\njournalists and we quickly had over 10,000 journalists sign up and countless\nmedia organizations reach out to get their journalists listed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The\nFormation of Muck Rack as a PR Software Platform<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When the idea of helping businesses find PR journalists for their companies finally found its way to its realization, this is where the first version of Muck Rack was released to the public. At first, it was just a simple free tool that helped businesses find the right journalists for their PR jobs using Twitter as the main platform of reference. This\nplatform has helped many companies ever since. It is the platform that\ncontinues on growing even until today, being used by big companies around the\nworld. It now has various features that help smoothen the PR work for these\ncompanies. Emma further explained about the history of Muck Rack,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOver the next few years, many PR people\ntold us that it was a great tool to figure out which journalists to pitch. We\nrealized we can give this great free service to journalists and also develop a\nplatform for the PR people to figure out who&#8217;s the right journalists to pitch\nand then provide a whole software platform do to better PR following that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2011, we relaunched it as a full platform\nfor PR folks to find the right journalists as well as, monitor the news, build\nreports, pitch the media, collaborate and more. We\u2019ve been growing quick since\nthen and are proud to have customers including Under Armour, Taco Bell, Pfizer,\nGolin, Chobani and Penguin Random.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Some Common\nChallenges Faced by Businesses When It Comes to Online PR<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When it comes to\nonline PR or communications, businesses face different challenges when compared\nto the situation in the past. In the past, you might be able to find some good\njournalists, and they might be willing to cooperate most of the time. Nowadays,\nthe good journalists are becoming scarce because their voices are outnumbered\nby the voices of the people crowding the social media platforms. Today, the definition of journalism is in\nflux and PR pros outnumber journalists 6 to 1. That means the ever-decreasing\nnumber of PR pros trying to reach (i.e. the media) is being bombarded with\npitches, decreasing the chances of cutting through the noise. And\nunfortunately, because many pitches aren\u2019t customized for a specific writer,\nsome journalists reject 95 percent of the pitches they receive on a weekly\nbasis &#8212; making PR pros jobs increasingly difficult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aside from making an impact with the\nmedia, many PR pros and teams face challenges with inefficiency. Some of these\ncosts include, manual tasks and data entry, inaccurate information and poorly\ntarget distribution, imprecise or cumbersome measurement and difficulty\ncollaborating and managing relationships.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How\nJournalists Can Use Muck Rack for Their PR Advantage<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Muck Rack is a PR\nsoftware that is not only designed for businesses to help them connect with the\nright journalists for their public relation strategy, but it is also designed\nto help journalists connect with the companies that they prefer.
