Freelancer Review and Overview
Freelancer.com is one of the world’s leading website providing millions of freelance projects on their online job marketplace. This Australian site is operative since 2009 and now connects about 43 million employers and workers from more than 200 nations. Various areas from writing, coding, data entry, or any type of contract can be completed at the right cost.
Freelancer.com Buyers and Sellers
Freelancer.com is divided under two key sections, viz., I want to hire, and I want to work, i.e., sellers and buyers. The sellers can post their jobs under tons of categories. From there, the workers or freelancers take up the project and complete it, after negotiating for the right price. It uses an online competitor tender to pick the best freelance worker for a job.
In terms of job categories or types, Freelancer.com covers some important ones like website, IT or software, data entry, computing, and coding. It also includes media/designing, engineering, sciences, and business/accounting jobs. Casual jobs like content writing, local jobs, teaching, translations, sales, etc. are included too. Overall, Freelancer.com covers a whopping 29k jobs in websites/IT/software class, 5k in mobile phone & computing, 9k in content writing, 24k in design/media/architecture, and thousands of jobs in other categories.
Freelancer.com also allows direct job postings as well as contest postings. The contests can be posted either as paid or crowdfunded. When it comes to pricing, they are divided for employers as well as freelancers. In the Employer section, it is different for projects, contests, and services. For projects, under the fixed project type, they charge a 3% fee or $3, whichever has a more substantial amount. In the case of hourly contracts, 3% of charges are taken by Freelancer.com for each transaction. The fees in the contest section is zero. Similarly, any applied services are not charged, and they even offer payment release options only after the proper satisfaction of the employers.
Now, for the freelancers, they charge about 10% of the entire project fees or $5, i.e., the bigger amount amongst these, and the same is 10% for the hourly project. The Contest fee is also a higher amount of 10% or $5. In the case of services, they take a 20% fee from the total service charges. They even reduce the entire project fees for the freelancers that bring in new employers, with some conditions. They even offer several membership plans with multiple benefits for both employers and freelancers. Overall, they are the leading provider of top freelancer services.
