Awstats Review and Overview

The performance of your website is an essential parameter for measuring the success of your business. Understanding whether your potential customers are visiting your site or not, how clients are engaging with your site content, conversion rates, and other vital statistics and figures lets you run customizations that escalate your business growth. Logfile analysis is a great way to gain insights on website usage data. To evaluate log files, you need a powerful tracking and reporting tool like AWStats. It analyzes server log files from the web, FTP, streaming services, and mail to produce visually pleasing HTML reports.

Enjoy full log analysis with AWStats

From the total number of visits to the number of unique visits within a stipulated time, you can check all your site performance details with AWStats. You can see when and how many authenticated users have visited your site. It also records the duration of their stay. It includes the total time spent on your website and for how long they viewed each of your pages. You are also made aware of robot visits and worm attacks. You also get an understanding of the days of the week and hours of the day when your site drives maximum traffic.

Features which are free and easy to use

AWStats is designed to assess log files produced in multiple formats, including Apache NCSA combined log files, IIS log files, WebStar native log files, and server log files from other proxies, wap, streaming services, etc. It also supports DNS cache files. There is no limit on the log file size, and you can even split them up in the load-balancing systems. Even for web hosting providers, it is entirely free to use and works on all platforms from the command line and as CGI from the browser. All statistics can be updated from the web browser, not just your scheduler.

Get access to an assortment of plugins

AWStats has several filters and plugins that help in a complete analysis of the log files collected. There is a plugin for detecting the country from the IP address that tells which demographics your visitors belong to with the GeoIP country database. A plugin is also available for city detection, so now, you know the exact location. You need not add any third-party products for other GeoIP databases as there are also plugins for the US/Canadian region, ISP, as well as organizations. All the analysis databases are kept in XML format, and the dynamic reports are output in CGI format.
