IFTTT Review and Overview
IFTTT, aka If This Then That, is a web service that offers creation of conditional commands called applets. These are then used to send commands based on particular action on the web like tags, references, etc. It was initially launched in the year 2011, along with its official website. Later in 2014, IFTTT launched its version for Android. They are now also into the IoT business integrating various hardware and related stuff into their services.
IFTTT Feature Overview
IFTTT is used to connect to over 600 applications from different categories. These include big names like Twitter, Facebook, Google Drive, and even other IT apps like Slack, etc. It can also be connected to hardware devices like Google Home, Alexa, iRobot, etc. The app can be operated via both iOS and Android devices. IFTTT comes in both freeware as well as business version. The features difference is minimal in them.
The three main steps to using IFTTT are connected, learn, and grow. IFTTT operates on basic steps viz., Services, Triggers, Actions, Applets, and Ingredients. Using these steps, the operations are carried out by the IFTTT app. Channels are basic blocks in IFTTT. It can be connected to utilizing various APIs. Once connected, each set of blocks or data can be used to undergo specific actions.
The “This” in IFTTT is the trigger of the applets. Each of these data can be organized to a specific set of triggers. Based on that, “That” part of an applet is undertaken. These outputs are employed based on triggers. Applets are basically the combination of triggers and actions that undergo a set command. Ingredients are the data packets collected from the triggers.
There can be any use of IFTTT to undergo varied trigger and action sequences. Under the Business plans, IFTTT has three plans, namely Developer, Team, and Business. The Developer plan costs $199/year. It hosts API from up to 200k devs, 600 services, and 20 million userbase. In the Team Plan, they offer per user-based rates.
The Business subscription is volume-based and offers unlimited product services. It has better analytics, behavior, and insight tools, along with a dedicated account manager.
