Ansys Maxwell Review and Overview

The software works in business, entertainment industry, social needs, etc. But the software also has an important role in the engineering field. Simulation software is the need of the hour to create virtual labs for the experiments. ANSYS Maxwell is a software that helps in the engineering department. It is the simulation software that calculates the forces and maps them to ANSYS mechanical for harmonic analysis.

Functionalities

The ANSYS Maxwell software helps in identifying the transient motion of the electromagnetic components and also helps in finding out the effects they have on the control system design and the drive circuit. The simulator helps in understanding the performance of these systems before actually creating the hardware prototype. This simulator is a low-frequency simulation software that does the non-linear analysis with rigid motion, core loss computation, magnetic vector hysteresis, etc. It has adaptive meshing techniques and is automatic, which means you only need to enter material properties, the geometry, and the desired result. It has the advantage of reducing the amount of memory used.

High-Performance Computing

ANSYS Maxwell comes with electronics High-Performance computing (HPC) license that provides high fidelity simulations. The working of HPC is made easier by ANSYS Maxwell’s cloud platform. It enables you to access unlimited computing power. The computational speed is achieved by using the time decomposition technique. It processes all time steps simultaneously by distributing the time-steps across the network and hence increase the simulation capacity. It is capable of performing parametric analysis, optimization, tuning, sensitivity analysis, and statistical analysis.

Features

ANSYS Maxwell software is capable of doing circuit and block diagram simulation activities. It does have a provision of providing a graphical modeling environment. It opts-in for the multithreading technique to speed up the mesh generation. The use of spectral decomposition technique accelerates the frequency sweeps by distributing multiple solutions over compute cores. It helps in optimizing the performance of multidomain systems. It has the capability of analyzing the vibration and noise harshness present in the electrical machines. It includes two design interfaces, namely RMxprt meant for Rotating Electric machines and PExprt meant for Electronic Transformers and Inductors.
