AWS Lake Formation Review and Overview

AWS Lake Formation enables users to store, catalogue, move and delete data or data sets - faster than ever before. Point & move features allow a user-friendly interface to modify data between Lake Formation sources and Amazon S3 Data Lake. The software can organize data in sizeable chunks around recurrent queries in S3 module to augment efficiency. The software contains built-in intelligence to identify matching records and deduplicate them, thereby enhancing the qualitative quotient. Moreover, Lake Formation can modify data formats, including ORC and Apache Parquet, to speed-up analytics.

For a non-centralized data lake, users have to define security protocols per service and consequently enforce them across analytical applications. Since AWS Lake Formation is typically centralized, it is convenient to define security parameters—including access control, auditing policies, and governance—from one console. The automation eliminates the need for manual configurations across security platforms, such as AWS Key Management Service and AWS Identity and Access Management. The feature offers consistent compliance and security enforcement across data sets.
