Oxygen XML Editor Review and Overview
Providing single-source publishing and XML authoring capabilities, users can write rich XML documents which can transfer a variety of information supported by all software standards. You can write XSL, XQuery and XSLT documents with ease and professional code quality.
Single source publishing and editing
Oxygen provides industry-standard DITA OPEN TOOLKIT which can convert DITA maps to the final output of a variety of file formats such as ePub, Pdf and CHM. Mobile friendly WebHelp can be generated out of the box with the assisting tools. A context-sensitive completion assistant is available, which automatically offers a list of elements, attributes and attribute values. It shows only those suggestions that are suitable for the current editing context. So, the document always remains valid even though the user does not have expert training. For documents that have a schema associated with them, oxygen will utilize it to initialize the completion assistant.
Editing made easy
A multitude of CSS based WYSIWYG XML editors is offered to make your work easier on all fronts. Many XML based documentation frameworks such as DITA, DocBook and XHTML are supported with an incoming rendering for other platforms as well. A generic visual XML editor offers out of the box capabilities that can review, track, profile XML vocabulary. Also, an advanced DITA Editor is provided, which supports all versions of the platform. Users with limited experience of XML can change their documents to DITA format with the interface that resembles word processors.
Make valid documents
A valid XML document must conform to the rule of Document Type Definition(DTD), XML Schema and other types of rules which define the validity and structure of the document. Oxygen provides the latest edition of the Xerces-J XML parser which can validate your documents against the XML schemas. Multiple validation scenarios are supported which solve numerous critical issues that occur when working with XML related technologies. Oxygen is configurable to automatically report errors and validations and suggest improvements as you modify it. An XQuery debugger is also available to the users, which grants full control over the debugging process.
