SAP HANA Review and Overview

SAP HANA is a Cloud Database management system that uses in-memory and RDBMS developed by SAP RE. Like any other DBMS, it stores and exchanges data with other applications. It has other advanced features that help in doing complex analytics, data extraction, transformation, and loading on the servers. After its early demo in the year 2008, SAP HANA finally got its first official release in 2010. After that, there are yearly updates in it.

SAP provides many such cloud-related utilities along with SAP HANA. Some of the features of SAP HANA are quite common, as found in most cloud DBMS like hybrid deployment, in-memory tools, real-time data processing, OLAP and OLTP processing, and many more.

SAP HANA Capabilities and Services

SAP HANA comes primarily in four diverse editions viz., Enterprise, Standard, Express, and Runtime edition. The core services included in each of these plans are cloud and on-premise deployment, SAP support, real-time enablement, and Big Data optimization. The areas where the services differ in these plans are DBMS, application, processing, quality, and integration services.

SAP HANA offers different capabilities of its DBMS tools. The in-memory DB services are used for quick and efficient data transfer and analytics. It also supports multitenant containers and dynamic tiers for large DB volumes. As for Advanced Analytics Processing, their analytics include data like text, predictive, spatial graphs, time, and streaming services. These can be automated with advanced AI features.

In the App Development part, it bids next-generation advanced development tools that offer collected data analytics. Data can be remotely accessed, replicated, and synced with a single panel setup. SAP HANA also provides Administrative and Security features in their cloud DBMS. Admin tools offer detailed logs and informative tools like capture & replay, disaster recovery, virtualization, and other monitoring tools. You can even access platform lifecycle management.

This ensures the proper availability of SAP HANA services. All of these are safeguarded by secure accessibility features like TFA, SSO, audit logs, roles/users, etc. and use secure credentials and encryption. Overall, SAP HANA is very useful for developers and analysts. The UI is a bit richer, which may confuse new users, but with time and experience, it looks exhaustive and valuable.
