Abaqus Review and Overview

Abaqus is one of the great and reliable products for realistic solutions in CAD and FEA. The unified suite of Abaqus offers help in many engineering problems and solves parameters like loads, dynamic vibrations, thermal coupling, impact/crash, etc. Abaqus has better connectivity for tests and analysis results, better model generation efficiency, flexible workforce, and standardized simulations. The current version has enhanced materials, elements, contacts, visualization, and many other improvements.

Abaqus Overview

Abaqus CAE is one of the products in the Suite that is used for multi-dimensional modeling, analysis, and simulations. It uses parametric modeling, scripted operations, GUI customization, and other CAE tools. Any type of geometry, meshing, rapid assembly, and analysis can be done. The automated tools help with workflow deployment and complete visualization for better result analysis.

Abaqus Standard is used for events where static and lower dynamic speeds are involved and offer quality stress solutions. It can even do any simulation in the time/frequency domain simultaneously. This feature is already accompanied in the CAE version. It uses VCCT technology to offer an enhanced analysis in bonded surfaces. Some of the examples where this version can be utilized are gasket joints, tire rolling, airplane fuselage crack propagation, etc., or any areas with implicit integration schemes.

Abaqus Explicit & Multiphysics

Abaqus/Explicit is an FEA tool mostly suited for simulation of transient dynamic events. This can include a drop test, crash tests, or even ballistic impacts. It is also suited for testing of nonlinear behaviors, quasi-static events, production environments, etc. The simulations from Abaqus Standard can be quickly exported into this environment, and its analysis can be used on the above conditions in the tests.

Abaqus Multiphysics contains several simulation and analysis products that can help with most Multiphysics problems. It has an Aqua product to check for hydrodynamic wave load. All the modeling, library, material data, etc. can be accessed from a single interface. It can work out coupled Euler-Lagrange, piezoelectric, mechanical, thermal, pressure, etc. from this combined Abaqus Unified FEA Suite.
