Detailed Reviews
When it comes to system security, one is not enough. We've already
entered an era in which an antivirus that protects only against viruses
is of little use. A number of other security threats have emerged, which
include malware, spyware, trojans, rootkits and what not. In such a
world, having a separate program capable of removing these threats
alongside antivirus is always a good idea.
So here we're going
to take a look at one such small program known as SUPERAntiSpyware.
Let's see how powerful it is at removing such security threats.
Setup
For starters, you'll be glad to find out that SUPERAntiSpyware takes very less time to set up. Installation is quick, and there's not a lot that you need to set up in the software. Once installed and launched, you can scan your computer with it without any extra hassle. The scanning speed is also fast – it'll provide you results within a few minutes.
User Interface
The
UI of SUPERAntiSpyware does not have any bells and whistles. It has
got  a very simple user interface. On the home screen it shows 6 large
buttons – one for scanning, one for real-time protection, one for
scheduling scans, one for updating the software, one for help and one
for accessing some system tools that come with it. Each of the options
is pretty self-explanatory, except for some tools hidden behind "System Tools" button, which I'm going to explain for you:
- System Investigator:
This tool, as its definition in the software suggests, shows you what's
running on your PC. You can use it to manually check the files or
processes to determine if any of them contains malware.
 - Scan Logs: Here you can see the history of your scans.
 - SUPERDelete File Removal: Removes files with malware that can't be removed easily.
 - Advanced Scan Settings: Can be used to tweak the settings related to advance scans.
 - Preferences: Here you can set your preferences.
 - Uninstall Unwanted Programs: A small utility that you can use to remove programs that you don't want on your computer.
 - Quarantine: This is similar to the quarantine of other antivirus programs - files with security threats are moved here.
 - Repairs: This tool will allow you to fix the damage that malware might've done to your Windows registry.
 - Submit Malware Samples:
Finally, this one will allow you to send suspicious files to
SUPERAntiSpyware's researchers. For any reason, if you doubt that any
particular file on your system contains malware, you can use this option
to send a sample of that file to SUPERAntiSpyware's researchers, who
may then update the software definitions accordingly to identify the
malware.

Besides these options pretty much everything in SUPERAntiSpyware is very easily accessible and usable. You won't have to spend a lot of time learning about it, which makes it a good spyware and malware removal program for new users.
Protection
Finally, let's talk about the protection offered by this program, which is the main thing. First of all keep in mind that it's not a substitute for your antivirus program – it's just a malware and spyware removal tool, so it's supposed to be running alongside your antivirus. Once you understand this, we can talk about other aspects of its protection.
It can be said that SUPERAntiSpyware does a fair job of removing most malware and spyware from computers. Besides malware and spyware it can also detect a number of other malicious items, including trojans, rootkits and some viruses.
However, there's also a downside of being a small program that scans and installs quickly. It does not include many nice-to-have features that're offered by its competitors. For example, it has got nothing in the name of web protection. Gaming mode and the ability to scan removable media is also missing.
Conclusion
Despite
the shortcomings mentioned in protection segment this is a very nice
and small security program. It's easy to use, it doesn't consume a lot
of resources and when kept running alongside an antivirus it can work as
an effective malware removal tool to quickly fix the problems before
they arise. Not bad.
